Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign

On Wednesday 12th of October 2016, JUC launched the Awareness Campaign for Early Diagnosis of Breast Cancer under the slogan "Dosen't know later" in a precence of Professor Fatima Melhem. The Campaign aims at raising awareness among women about breast cancer and the importance of early diagnosis.

Student Services Supervisor inaugurated the event with a welcoming introduction to the Campaign's president, Prof. Fatima Melhem.

Prof. Fatima Melhem pointed out that this campaign targets all women to increase knowledge and awarness regarding breast cancer and breast self-examination.

Moreover, She emphasized that the breast cancer occupies a third of all cancers in women in the world, as the Eastern Province occupies the first place in the incidence among the regions of the Kingdom.

According to Prof. Fatima, the patient can defeat cancer by 95% if it was diagnosed in early stages. Also, one of the major causes of the disease is the role of genetic factors. Finally, Dr. Fatima provided tips for all women to self-examine themselves in a monthly manner.

Ms. Maha Alshawi, who has a history with the disease, spoke about her experience with breast cancer and how she beat it. Also, she confirmed that positive attitudes play an important role to resist the disease.

At last, Dr. Dima Hajeri explained in detail the steps of self-examination for breast cancer as she presented a practical application of it on a doll.
